“Not too sweet”
group art show

September 2022
CHUNKY • LA CHINATOWN

In celebration of the Mid-Autumn festival, 20+ AAPI artists shared memories of treats and sweets they grew up with.

Message from the artist:

Remember that first time someone told you that you could eat the White Rabbit wrapper?

That feeling of curiosity, of skepticism paired with excitement, and of being daring (or as daring a 7 year old could be) to try something you weren't sure of just to learn that you love it.

It's about never losing that open heart and sense of wonder 20 years later.

“Realms of wonderland” solo exhibit

February 2023
PARU • La Jolla, CA

In honor of our third year collaborating on red envelopes together, PARU invited me to show my work in their Bow Hall. For more info on this past showcase, visit the Realms of Wonderland page.

FROM THE ARTIST

While the Year of the Rabbit is celebrated by most cultures, we celebrate the Cat in Vietnamese culture. These animals share the same year and attributes—both known to be sensitive and thoughtful by nature. I couldn’t think of two better animals to host an afternoon tea party for the entire zodiac family.

The theme of soft skies and portals across these 5 pieces all clicked the second Amy—PARU founder—told me about their new “Pink Rabbit” tea blend and compared its complex flavor profile to different dimensions. I started imagining our zodiac hosts being transported to those far off places. To honor the Cat and Rabbit’s sensitive spirits, I hope these paintings send you off to more relaxing “realms”.

“Have A Nice Day”
group art show

May 2023
CHUNKY • LA CHINATOWN

Celebrating the places that make our days extra nice, featuring 45+ AAPI artists from all over.

Message from the artist:

An ode to the weekends where your parents would sing karaoke and dance the night away while you ran around the banquet hall with the other kids your age until you got too tired. Your eyelids get heavy, your mind slowly starts drifting to other worlds, and eventually you fall asleep on the car ride home just to wake up as your parents open the car door and carry you to bed.

There were countless banquet halls where we'd celebrate engagements, weddings, and new babies back home in San Jose. For me, so many of these moments were held at Flourishing Gardens--a restaurant that may have closed down but lives on in my memories.
